Cricklewood is a district of North London, the northeastern part is within the London Borough of Barnet; the western part is in within the London Borough of Brent and southeastern part is within London Borough of Camden. The nearest London Underground stations with links into central London are Willesden Green, Kilburn and West Hampstead on the Jubilee Line; and Cricklewood Railway station takes about 15 minutes to Kings Cross St Pancras.

It was not until the 20th century that Cricklewood became an industrial and commercial centre. Until then, it was simply a gateway with a handful of cottages providing facilities for coach travellers.
